Pakistan’s Crucial ODI Series Against England for Women’s World Cup Qualification
Pakistan’s chances for direct qualification to the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup hinge on their performance in the upcoming ODI series against England. Currently positioned fifth in the ICC Women’s Championship standings with 16 points from 21 games, Pakistan needs to secure wins to remain in the top five and avoid the Qualifier route for the World Cup. The top five teams, along with host nation India, will earn direct spots in the tournament.
ICC Women’s Championship Standings
The bottom four teams in the standings will need to go through a qualifying process to secure their place in next year’s 50-over event. West Indies, ranked seventh with 14 points, and Sri Lanka, in eighth place with 14 points, still have matches to play and could overtake Pakistan depending on their results.
England, currently in third place with 19 points from 15 matches, are on the verge of securing their qualification comfortably. Pakistan, however, must recover from their recent 3-0 loss in the T20I series against England to improve their ODI performance and solidify their standing.
Sidra Ameen, the leading run-scorer in the current Women’s Championship cycle with 948 runs in 21 matches, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform better in the ODIs. “Despite the recent T20I series not going our way, we are fully focused and eager to put on a good performance in the upcoming ODIs against England,” she said.
Ameen emphasized the team’s determination and high spirits as they aim to end their ICC Women’s Championship campaign on a positive note. “We believe in our capabilities and are focused on executing our plans well in the upcoming ODI series. The team spirit is high, and we are determined to end the ICC Women’s Championship matches on a positive note.”
Pakistan’s ODI series against England will be crucial in determining their direct qualification for the 2025 Women’s World Cup. The team’s performance in these matches will be watched closely by fans and analysts alike, as they aim to secure their spot in the prestigious tournament.
